GPNA & The Albert Park Baseball Proposal
On May 11, 2011, the GPNA held its monthly meeting and an urgent issue
that was brought before the board was a proposal to bring minor league baseball
to Albert Park. All of the board members heard from many people in the neighborhood about
this issue. There were phone calls and emails from our residents. There were many
that opposed this proposal and there were just as many that supported it. It was
voted on that date, the GPNA will stay neutral with either favoring or opposing this
proposal. The board did unanimous vote to press the issue with the Park & Recreation
Department to have this proposal go through the normal channels of approval of the
Planning, Building, Traffic, Police, and Fire Departments before heading to the
City Council for approval. It was important that this proposal go through the same
city approval processes that us homeowners and businesses go through every day.
The GPNA also felt it was important to protect the city and its resident with a proposal
this large and the impact it may have on the city from a financial standpoint.
