Our Mission

The purpose of the Gerstle Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) is to draw a wide diversity of people to work together and partner with our community and local government to enhance and protect the character and livability of our neighborhood.

Our specific goals and objectives are comprised, but not limited to, the following:

  1. To represent the neighborhood in its dealings with the City of San Rafael and its departments.
  2. To provide a forum for and to be a catalyst for the discussion of neighborhood planning issues and community development plans.
  3. To serve as an educational vehicle by communicating pertinent issues to the residents and business establishments of the neighborhood.
  4. To assist members in measuring the impact of city and county planning on our neighborhood.
  5. To organize seasonal events that draw our neighbors together and strengthen our sense of community.
  6. To focus on the issues and needs of our neighborhood in order to identify projects the GPNA can manage and ideas that we can promote.
  7. To provide regular communication through a newsletter, networking events and annual meeting.

Our Membership

Membership is open to all Gerstle Park community members: individuals, families and businesses.

Click here for a printable Membership Application. Dues and donations are used toward printing and distributing our quarterly newsletter, subsidizing events such as the annual picnic, the Spring Fling and neighborhood-wide garage and for community projects such as signs and park enhancements.

Our Board: We are actively seeking new Board Members at this time!

2010 GPNA Board Members

Bob Beyea, President
bobbeyea@yahoo.com

Bob has lived in Gerstle Park since 2000. His wife Amy Monteleone has lived here much longer. Bob is a Realtor with Better Homes Realty. Bob has always felt strongly about living and working in the same town. With regard to real estate, Bob always puts Gerstle Park homeowners on the top of his priority list. Bob has been involved with the Marin County Breast Cancer Council, Rebuilding Together, San Rafael Little League, CYO Basketball, San Rafael High School Sports Boosters, Events Marketing (A Charitable Fundraiser) and the Chamber of Commerce. It's not uncommon to see Bob walking his Basset Hound, “Gracie”, around our fine streets. Bob also manages the photo gallery for our new website.

Stacey Laumann, Vice President
staceykate@hotmail.com

Stacey Laumann has lived in Gerstle Park since 2005. She has volunteered on the GPNA traffic committee since 2005 and was active in developing the upcoming traffic safety changes at 1st and D and 1st and C Streets.  Stacey is the mother of a baby boy and is proud to live in a place where she can 'live locally', by walking to parks, downtown, and enjoying our local businesses. Stacey is interested in fostering the neighborhood's character, quality and walkability.

Tracy Loy, Treasurer

Tracy is a recent Gerstle Park resident. After living abroad in Barbados for 4 years, she and her husband returned to California with the idea of finding a perfect place to live. Within the past year she resided in Alameda, Sebastopol and then with great luck found Gerstle Park.

What Tracy really enjoys about Gerstle Park is the proximity of downtown, the wonderful series of hiking trails and the strong spirit of community. Because of this she felt a desire and a responsibility to become involved in the community, which led her to want to join the GPNA. Tracy also loves running, scuba diving, sailing, biking and spending time with family and friends.

Jenny Tonyes, Corresponding Secretary

Jenny moved to Gerstle Park in late May of 2009 – two weeks following the birth of her first child! After many years living out of a suitcase touring the US & Canada with a troupe of Chinese acrobats, she and her husband decided to start a family and luckily found the paradise known as Gerstle Park. The ability to walk to all types of businesses, restaurants and parks is what drew them to this part of San Rafael. Jenny is currently self-employed working from home as an event producer.

Jenny’s hobbies include sewing, quilting, crafting, graphic & web design, and of course circus arts.

Brandon Wagner, Web site & Membership

Brandon has been living in Gerstle Park since February of 2007. He enjoys having Gerstle Park and downtown San Rafael just a short stroll away, as do his toddler and his wife. After living in San Francisco for many years, they decided to move to Marin and found that the Gerstle Park neighborhood offered the perfect balance of city convenience and proximity to open space.

Weekends will usually find Brandon hiking, tinkering with house projects, fighting off weeds, or walking the neighborhood with his family.
