Open space update
Our waterfall in the open space has been flowing for several weeks now. Does everyone know where this waterfall is?
Recently I was pulling French broom very high up on the open space south of the main fire road. I heard a very loud crashing of branches about 80 feet away. I just caught a glimpse of a very large bird taking flight. I presume that it had a kill on the ground and I scared it. Well, it sure scared me. I managed to see part of a wing and it was brown. Could this have been the golden eagle that has been sighted near Trinity Lutheran Church?
Sudden oak death has made a huge resurgence in the past year. Mature oaks can be a very valuable part of our landscaping. So many home owners have lost their oaks. Often by the time you realize something is wrong with your old friend it is too late. On Saturday April 21, 2012 at 10 AM to 11 AM, in room 102, in the Science Center of Dominican campus they will teach how to identify sudden oak death symptoms and how to collect samples for testing. Free collection materials will be distributed. Admission is free.
